Prince Charles in Northern American disguise on the Santa Fe Miniature Railway at Belle Vue Manchester. Spark arresting chimney, larger cab, cowcatcher and other Northern American appendages were added when the railway was moved and renamed in 1964. Seventy years after the birth of the Sand Hutton Railway, Synolda stands at Dalegarth with a Narrow Gauge Railway Society special train for Ravenglass on 2nd May 1982. The outward journey had been remarkable, which accounts for the satisfied smiles, but the return trip was exhilarating and proved that, far from being an elderly lady, Synolda was capable of an amazing turn of speed with a well-filled three-coach train.
