ARMISTICE 100 - A special exhibition by the Stockton History Group is on display in Holy Trinity Church from 10-18th November 2018 commemorating all the fallen soldiers from Stockton on the Forest. Visit if you can. The church is open daily from 9am-4.30pm

SUMMER READING CHALLENGE for children launches Saturday 14th July 2018: This year’s challenge takes place in Beanotown, where Dennis, Gnasher and their buddies are on an adventure to discover hidden treasure. Children are challenged to read six books during the summer, and win a fabulous gold medal. Here’s how to join in:
1.Visit the library to register and collect your special Beanotown Map folder. You can sign up at any time during the summer.
2.Choose a book to read, or maybe two! Why not try an audio book or e-book? Find out more at www.exploreyork.org.uk
3.As you finish each book, tell us something about it, and collect your prize.
4.When you have read all six books, you should be able to work out where the treasure is buried. You will receive a gold medal, and a certificate with your name on it.
The challenge ends on Saturday 15th September, meaning that you have a whole nine weeks to read six books and collect your prizes!
THIS WEEKEND - SCARECROW TRAIL - Stockton on the Forest Scout Group are hosting a fundraising scarecrow competition in the village. Drop into the Scout Hut on Saturday 5th or Sunday 6th May between 10am-4pm to pick up your trail map and tuck into some yummy refreshments. Then visit all the scarecrows and vote for your favourite. The winner will be announced on Sunday at 3pm. All the profits will go towards a new kitchen at the Hut and the summer Jamboree.

Friday 13th April - Join the Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team for a FREE session on basic lifesaving skills and how to use the village defibrillator. 7.30pm at Stockton on the Forest Village Hall, with a retiring collection for SRMR (click here for full details).
CONGRATULATIONS to Stockton on the Forest Primary School. They have received a letter from the Minster of State for School standards (click here to read) informing them that at the last assessment the school was ranked in the top 1% in the country for reading achievement. Well done!

Started last week on 8th January and I've have good feedback from villagers who attended, A lovely social afternoon and the musical entertainment is great you don't have to dance if you don't want to. Sad news - The Stockton Senior Citizens Group has closed after 25 years due to lack of numbers and committee support. We wish everyone well.
