    War Memorial for Sand Hutton and Claxton

The War Memorial for Sand Hutton and Claxton is located on the road between Sand Hutton and Claxton, at the junction with the road to Bossall Lodge.

The memorial is in the form of a wheel cross on an octagonal plinth. The names of those commemorated (14 for the First World War, and 2 for the Second World War) are carved on three of the faces of the plinth. An overall dedication is carved onto a fourth face.

Private Fred Briggs. 240195. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 31 July 1917.
