Stockton Fox Pétanque club has been in existence for nearly 20 years. Originally playing on terrains behind the Fox Public House inStocktonit moved to the Village Hall for the 2009 season, when the rear of the Fox was developed into housing. It now has 2 large terrains and a club house behind the Village Hall car park.
Club members meet every Monday and Thursday evenings at 7 pm throughout the year. One terrain is floodlit allowing year-round use. New members can borrow equipment from the club (but this doesn't include thermals, gloves and woolly hats, which can be quite useful). Membership fees are an unbelievably good deal at £5 per year.
We are a small friendly club and a warm welcome is given to new members, of all ages, whether they are beginners, French-campsite standard or Northern Regional players. We enter 2 teams in the York and District League during the summer, run an annual club championship and Stockton Fox's reputation for excellent terrains and lively social atmosphere regularly attracts over 50 players for monthly melées on Wednesdays throughout the summer. Here a full day of Petanque plus lunch can be had for £3.50.
