VILLAGERS PROTEST - On Tuesday 23rd December 2014 local residents met with Parish Councillors, Ward Councillors and York Outer MP - Julian Sturdy to protest against the proposed closure of Barr Lane at the A64 junction in February 2015. Around 50 people attended and a petition was signed.

YORK ART SOCIETY EXHIBITION: Julie Lightburn, of Stockton-on-the-Forest, along with other York Art Society members from the village, will be exhibiting paintings at the forthcoming Art Exhibition at the York Theatre Royal De Grey Rooms. The exhibition runs from Tuesday 28th October through to 1st November, 10am to 5pm, and Sunday 2nd November 10am to 3pm. YAS_Poster_200.pdf This will be the society’s 200th exhibition; for which Julie is putting together a display of 200 small works of art by members of the society and invited guest artists. Initially there will be a silent auction at the preview evening and the remainder will all be sold at a set price of just £5.00 throughout the rest of the week. There are delicate watercolours, bold acrylics, detailed oils; collages, abstracts and cartoons; landscapes, still-lives, wildlife, and portraits . . . . something for all tastes, and perfect to buy as gifts. 2nd and 3rd August, special display to commemorate the anniversary of World War I by the History Group at Holy Trinity Church.
11th June 2014 - This week it's the Holy Trinity Church Flower festival. Village groups have all been invited to create a floral display on the theme of 'Musicals'. Opening on Friday 13th June with a special evening concert by Jessa Liversidge at 7.30pm. Saturday coffee morning from 10am-12noon and open viewing for the flowers until 4pm, then Sunday service and open viewing until 4pm. Donations welcome. See the church page for tickets and details.
