30th December - Tier 3 Rules now apply in York. Pubs and hospitality venues must close but takeaways are still allowed. Retail is still open.


Now that we are out of lockdown don't forget to support the businesses in Stockton on the Forest including The Fox Inn which is fully open again for drinks served with food, including their smaller appetite menu at just £5. See their website for full menu and opening times.


Nativity Trail is now set up in the village. Follow the trail map and read the story of the first Christmas on the posters, which will be displayed on fences, lamp posts, gates etc. Download the map here

Nativity Trail Challenge find the words hidden on the posters and put them together to make a verse from the bible. The first ten people to message Horton2517@sky.com with the bible verse and the book it is from, will get a small prize. Craft packs are also available - please message Lisa Horton to register.

Channel 5’s and 5star’s hit cleaning show is looking for people across Save 

the UK who are in need of some professional help keeping their homes clean and tidy.
Filming in December this year until February 2021, this series sees expert cleaners clean each home in just four days and then gives each of our participants tips to keep their home clean for good. Holy Trinity Church - having been postponed many times the Annual Parochial Church Meeting will now take place via Zoom on Tuesday 17th November starting at 7pm. If you would like to take part please contact Rev Nick Bird for the link. 


A little bit of good news... staff on Fenton Ward at Stockton Hall, a multi-disciplinary care team of local  specialists have been shortlisted as finalists for a prestigious national award; Psychiatric Team of the Year: Intellectual Disability category of the RCPsych Awards 2020. Many congratulations to all involved, we hope you win.

Holy Trinity Church will be opening the the church up from 10.30am-4pm on Wednesday 11th November to allow more time for private prayer and contemplation on Remembrance day. Sadly services are now back online.

The Village Hall has now filled the position of Clerk of works but is still looking for a Booking Secretary and Chairperson. If you would be interested in getting involved please come along to the committee meeting (mask required) on Monday 19th October in the Long Room at 7.30pm.


Wednesday 14th October - The Fox Inn pub fortnightly quiz is back on and starts at tonight at 8pm. 

Next Wednesday (21st) That Bistro Guy is back at the village hall with his mobile pizza oven from 5-8pm phone or text your orders as soon as you can so they know how much dough to make. Mob: 07946 224960. See his Facebook page for menu.


Saturday 3rd October - Come and celebrate Harvest at Holy Trinity Church with a Scarecrow Trail and children's activities in the churchyard (social distancing restrictions will apply). 2-5pm


17th September - Stockton on the Forest Primary School are seeking to recruit a dedicated and enthusiastic Midday Supervisory Assistant.

The role is to care for, support and interact with children during the lunchtime period, which includes helping the children access the lunch service and supervision on the playground during lunch times 12:00pm-1.00pm. Potential applicants are welcome to telephone school and speak to the Headteacher (Mrs Lorraine Atkinson) for more information/to express an interest in this post (01904 400366). An informal interview will take place on Friday 2nd October with Mrs Atkinson (Headteacher) and another member of school staff. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We follow safer recruitment practices and appointments are subject to an enhanced DBS check.

16th September 2020 - Stockton on the Forest village Hall is looking for a new cleaner. Hourly rate paid and all cleaning materials provided but must be able to work flexible hours to fit in between hall bookings. The village hall is NOW OPEN but in order to keep it running we urgently need new people to join the management committee - in particular a Booking Secretary and Clerk of Works. If you can spare a few hours a month to help your community and keep this fantastic facility open please get in touch or come along to the next meeting on Monday 14th September at 7.30pm in the hall Long Room. Email sotfnews@gmail.com for more information.

Tuesday 25th August - New at the village hall That Pizza Guy! Guy's Bistro mobile pizza oven in the car park from 5-8pm freshly made pizza to order. And hopefully one Tuesday a month from now on.

MOBILE LIBRARY - returns to the village on Wednesday 22nd July! It will be available for pre-booked collections only so please phone or register online to browse the library catalogue and reserve books. It will park at Stone Riggs stop in the morning and at the Village Hall in the afternoon. To see future dates click here


Friday 10th July - The Bothy at Dean's Garden Centre re-opens today. Reduced menu and one way system in place. Opening hours 10am-4pm. See website for full details.


2nd July - UPDATE

In addition to The Fox and Forest Park Clubhouse, also opening this Saturday for full service is The Highwayman Cafe on Malton Road (A64)

As of Saturday 4th July The Highwayman Café will be re-opening the inside of the café. Due to social distancing they will be operating at 50% capacity, but can still seat 24 people. Social distancing measures are in place and this will add a little time on to all orders. The takeaway side will continue to operate as normal and socially distanced external seating will be available. Please note they now do stonebaked pizzas, which are available in the café and to takeaway.

Opening times are back to normal:

Monday – Saturday 7.00am – 4.30pm
Sunday 8.00am – 4pm


28th June 2020 - UPDATE

With Lock-down rules being relaxed, Stockton on the Forest is opening up again...

Holy Trinity Church is now open for private prayer and reflection every Wednesday and Sunday from 1-4pm. The church yard is open daily to visitors. Please observe social distancing.

The FOX INN will be opening again on Saturday 4th July at 12 noon. There will be reduced opening hours and a reduced menu during the week and on Sundays, click for details.

Forest Park Golf Club will be opening the club house for meals on Saturday 4th July, reduced menu and social distancing measures apply - please phone 400425 to book. The 9 hole West Course, 18 hole Old Foss Course and the Driving Range are open daily.

Several businesses on The Bull Centre are now open, including Iced Yorkshire. Please check for new opening hours before visiting.

Julia from Hair at Home will be operating a temporary hair salon in the courtyard of the Church View B&B.

Don't forget you can still get all your newspapers, groceries, household supplies and second hand bikes from The Village Stores, open daily.

Fish and chips from the Thornton Dale Fisheries van outside the village hall every Thursday evening.

Dean's Garden Centre is now open daily.

We are in the process of setting up a Stockton on the Forest and Hopgrove community network of street coordinators and volunteers to get us through the difficult times ahead and ensure that everyone is supported and those that are in need get help.
